Word Hero

A word game where you place letters, build words and outscore your opponent — in real-time online matches or against an AI. I built the whole thing solo.

What I built
  • Built two modes on one board: turn-based online multiplayer over Photon, and a single-player mode against an AI opponent.
  • Programmed the full UI — the animations and interactions that make it feel good on mobile.
  • Wrote an EN/TR localization system deep enough to swap the UI, the word databases and the AI's logic.
  • Added the tutorial (FTUE) and game analytics.
The story

The real challenge was scope. As the only programmer, I built both a real-time multiplayer game on Photon and a single-player AI to play against — two very different opponents driving the same board and rules — then made the whole thing work in both English and Turkish.

The design was a challenge of its own. The core idea came from my co-founder and had good bones, but video-gamifying a pen-and-paper concept took many iterations — pacing, scoring, feedback — trying different solutions until the board actually felt like a game.
